First Answer vs Promptwatch (2026): Action Plans or Agents That Publish?

First Answer turns daily AI answer tracking into monthly action plans from $135/mo. Promptwatch writes and publishes the page, then shows which AI crawlers read it. Where each one wins.

First Answer and Promptwatch agree on step one. Both run your prompts through AI engines every day and score how often, where and how warmly your brand comes up. They part ways at step two. First Answer hands you a prioritized action plan and stops there. Promptwatch has agents that write and publish the page, then a crawler log that tells you whether ChatGPT's bot came back to read it. We judge tools by how much of the monitor, optimize, publish and verify loop they finish, so that split decides this one. Oddly, the narrower tool also costs more at entry.

What First Answer gets right

First Answer comes out of Brazil. Johanna Goulart (CEO) and Rodrigo Beckmann (CTO) founded it in 2025, and they built it to work in any country and language. The site and support run in English and Portuguese, which is rarer in this category than it should be.

The scoring is easy to read: mention rate and share of voice, your position inside the answer, and sentiment, plus the sites AI engines cite in your category. Ten competitors fit on Essential, fifteen on Pro, and an MCP integration pipes the data into other AI tools.

The action plans are the habit it sells. Essential includes up to five a month, Pro twelve. Each is a ranked recommendation, such as writing about a topic where AI answers don't link to you, or improving a page that gets cited but sits low in the answer. The vendor's own case study claims a 220.4% share-of-voice gain for Afya.

Where First Answer runs out

Coverage on the entry plan is thin. Essential watches ChatGPT and Gemini only. Pro moves to five models, but the pricing page lists them two ways: Grok on the plan card, Copilot in the FAQ. Ask which you get. Claude and Google AI Mode need an Enterprise quote.

After the plan, First Answer generates one piece of content a month on Essential and two on Pro, and describes no CMS publishing, so your team still ships most of the work. It does list AI traffic and crawler logs, to its credit. What its pages leave out is which bots the logs cover, whether you can trace a crawl to a later citation, and whether AI-referred visits connect to conversions. Without those, the verify step mostly means waiting for tomorrow's prompt run.

What Promptwatch does after the recommendation

Promptwatch treats the recommendation as the start of a job. Content Agents run a content gap analysis against your tracked prompts and competitors, draft the articles, and publish them to a connected Webflow, Framer, or WordPress site. A review inbox holds every draft until you approve it, or you can let it run on its own.

Verification is where the gap is widest. Agent Analytics reads your CDN logs (Cloudflare, Vercel, Fastly, CloudFront and others) and shows hits from ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and Meta's AI crawler, the crawl-to-citation path, and the errors that block a page. Visitor analytics follows AI-referred sessions through to conversions. Citation analytics reaches page level, Reddit and YouTube, and prompt volumes and query fan-outs tell you which prompts deserve a page at all.

One caveat on plans. Essential at $95 gets you all tracked engines and five AEO articles, but it has no listed crawler-log allowance. Agent Analytics starts on Professional at $245 a month, which also adds state and city tracking.

Where First Answer is the better buy

A Brazilian brand that wants Portuguese-language support from a local team has a real reason to choose First Answer. So does an enterprise buyer who needs real-time monitoring, which First Answer sells on Enterprise while Promptwatch publishes a daily refresh. And a small team that only wants a short ranked to-do list may find the narrower product easier to live with.

Who should pick which

Pick First Answer if you sell mainly into Brazil or Portuguese-speaking markets, you track one brand, ChatGPT and Gemini cover your audience, and you already have writers who will turn action plans into pages.

Pick Promptwatch if you want Claude and Google AI Mode on the entry plan, manage more than one brand, or need proof that a published page got crawled and sent visitors who converted.

Verdict

First Answer is a tidy tracker with a clear action-plan routine and a real local-market angle. For most teams, though, Promptwatch is the one to evaluate first. It costs less at entry, watches more engines on the same 50 prompts, and finishes the loop First Answer stops halfway through. Professional at $245 is the plan where the publish and verify steps come together, and the free Explore plan lets you look at your ChatGPT numbers before paying.

FAQ

Is First Answer cheaper than Promptwatch?

No. First Answer Essential is $135 a month against $95 for Promptwatch Essential, and Pro at $370 costs more than Promptwatch Professional at $245. Both entry plans track 50 prompts, but Promptwatch runs them across all its tracked engines and allows 6,000 responses against First Answer's 3,100.

Does First Answer have AI crawler logs?

It lists AI traffic and crawler logs on its homepage. Its pages don't say which bots are covered or describe a crawl-to-citation path, so ask for a demo. Promptwatch names the bots it logs and maps crawls to citations from the Professional plan up.

Can I try either tool for free?

First Answer offers a 7-day trial on Essential and Pro with a credit card on file. Promptwatch has a free Explore plan (10 prompts, ChatGPT only) and a 7-day trial on Essential.
