How to Set Up Scheduled Chats in Promptwatch

Save an Agent Chat question once, run it on a cadence, and only hear about it when the answer changes. Setup, cadence limits by plan, and Slack delivery.

Nobody reads the Monday dashboard by week six. The numbers barely move, the habit fades, and the one week something does move is the week nobody looked. A scheduled check that stays silent until something changes fixes that, because silence becomes information and every notification is worth opening.

Promptwatch Scheduled Chats work like that. You save an Agent Chat question once, pick a cadence, and the agent runs it, compares the new answer to the previous run, and reports only what changed. This guide covers setup, the plan limits, and Slack delivery. Source: Promptwatch's Scheduled Chats documentation, read October 15, 2026.

The guardrail first

Scheduled runs are always read-only. In an interactive chat the agent can create, update, and delete things when you tell it to. An unattended run gets no write tools, so it can only analyze and report. That is the right split for an agent running on a timer, and it's why we're comfortable recommending daily schedules. Chat, and with it the Scheduled view, isn't available on white-label organizations.

Schedules are project-wide. Everyone in the project can see and edit them. Bell notifications go to whoever created the schedule.

Create one from the Scheduled view

  1. Click Agent in the left rail, then Scheduled above the chat list.
  2. Type the ask, for example "Which prompts did we lose visibility on this week, and why?"
  3. Click Schedule and pick a preset: Every morning 8:00, Weekly Monday 9:00, Monthly on the 1st 9:00, Every 6 hours, or Custom.
  4. Read the line under the composer. It shows the next run time, how many runs fit in the current period, and the credits they are expected to cost.
  5. Click the arrow to create it, then use Run it once now so the first scheduled run has a baseline to compare against.

A schedule made here runs on the Standard model with default tools. To keep a specific model and tool setup, open an existing chat's options menu and choose Schedule this agent. That prefills the composer with the chat's first message, model, and tools.

The quickest start is the Suggestions list: 7-day GEO briefing, Diagnose visibility, and Competitor opportunities are visible, and Show more reveals Newsjacking, Content gap sprint, and Refresh decaying pages. Each one fills in the ask, the cadence, and the tools.

Match cadence to your data

Custom lets you set hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly, an interval, time of day, weekday or day of month (1 to 28), and a timezone that handles daylight saving. Hourly has a floor of every 6 hours.

If you pick a cadence faster than your monitors refresh, the picker warns you. Take the warning seriously. Running ahead of the data mostly re-reads the same responses and spends credits for nothing. On a daily-refresh plan, daily is the fastest schedule that can learn anything new.

Only hear about changes

In Edit schedule, the switch Only notify me when the answer changed is on by default. Each run loads the previous answer, leads with what changed, and a comparison decides whether the change is material. Quiet runs deliver nothing and just record themselves in run history. The first run always counts as changed.

Run history lists each run with a marker: a filled dot for a real change, a hollow dot for "Nothing material changed," dashed for skipped, red for failed. Each completed run links to the full chat. A schedule that fails three times in a row is paused automatically so it stops burning credits.

Send it to Slack

An organization owner connects Slack once under Settings, Integrations, then maps a channel to a project under Channel project mappings. After that, the schedule's Edit dialog shows Also post to #channel. It's off by default. Turn it on and material changes post their headline and answer to the channel. Very long answers are cut off in Slack, so keep the ask focused.

Plan limits

Every paid plan can create up to 10 schedules. Explore can open the view but not create one. Daily is the fastest cadence on Essential ($95/mo), Professional ($245/mo), and Agency Kick-off ($199/mo). Business ($579/mo), Enterprise, Agency Growth ($399/mo), and Agency Scale ($799/mo) unlock the 6-hour cadence. Schedules draw from at most half of the organization's monthly Agent Chat credits, so one busy schedule can't spend the whole budget.

What to do this week

  1. Schedule "Diagnose visibility" from Suggestions on a daily cadence and run it once now.
  2. Add a weekly "Competitor opportunities" schedule for Monday morning.
  3. Map one Slack channel to the project and turn on Slack delivery for both.
  4. Leave notify-on-change on. Delete any schedule that hasn't earned a notification in a month.
