ShownInAI review (2026): three drafted SaaS pages a month, thin measurement
ShownInAI writes three comparison and alternatives pages a month for SaaS from $9 for the first month. Its tracking names only OpenAI and rechecks every 14 days.
ShownInAI is a small AI visibility tool for SaaS companies and the agencies that serve them, built by Aurumaxis Labs Limited. It does two things. It checks whether AI answers name you when a buyer asks for your category, and it writes the pages most likely to change that answer: comparison pages, alternatives pages and listing kits.
That second part is why it is interesting on this site. Most cheap trackers monitor and leave you with a score. ShownInAI drafts the fix. It does not publish it, and its measurement is the weakest part of the product, but for an early SaaS founder with no content team, a drafted page is worth more than another chart.
How it works
You enter your domain. ShownInAI infers your category and your rivals, then writes 10 buyer prompts of four types: "best X for Y", "X alternatives", "X vs Y" and "tools like X". None of them contain your brand name, so the score is about being discovered, not about whether a model recognises a name you typed in.
The prompts run against AI answers with web search on. For each one you see whether you were named, at what position, who was named instead and which sources were cited (G2, Capterra, Reddit threads and roundup articles are the examples it gives). Then it picks the biggest gaps and writes three publish-ready pages a month, with FAQ schema.

What works
Nine dollars buys a first look at whether AI recommends you and three drafted pages. For a founder deciding whether GEO deserves budget at all, that is a cheap experiment.
The unbranded prompts are the right design. A brand-name prompt mostly tests recall; "best X for Y" tests whether you are on the shortlist, which is what drives a buyer.
The page types are well chosen for SaaS. Comparison and alternatives pages map directly onto the "X vs Y" and "X alternatives" prompts it tests, and listing kits target the third-party sources the answers cite. The Agency plan's embeddable scanner is a sensible lead-gen idea for consultants.
What to check before paying
Ask which engines it checks. Its pages talk about "AI answers" without listing engines. The security page says scans go to OpenAI through its API, and the API docs sample shows a "chatgpt" engine. Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI results are not mentioned.
The site contradicts itself twice. The homepage advertises "weekly or daily tracking with alerts to email and Slack", while Starter lists tracking every 14 days with email alerts. And the security page limits API access to "Growth and Enterprise" workspaces, but the pricing page has no Growth plan. Ask which is current before relying on either.
Its comparison page against a competing tracker and its "39 of 50 brands" statistic are vendor material. Read them as marketing.
Where it falls short of a full AI visibility platform
Ten prompts every two weeks, on what appears to be one provider, is a sample, not a measurement program. You cannot see trends with confidence at that volume, and you cannot tell Perplexity's view of your category from ChatGPT's.
The loop also breaks after the draft. ShownInAI writes the page; you publish it. Then you wait up to 14 days to see if anything changed, with no view of whether an AI crawler fetched the new page or whether anyone clicked through from an answer and signed up.
When Promptwatch is the better buy
Once the first pages are live, the question changes from "what should I write" to "is it working". That is where Promptwatch earns its price.
Prompt tracking runs daily on paid plans across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Copilot and others, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, with search volumes and difficulty per prompt. Citation analytics show which pages, Reddit threads and YouTube videos the models cite, so you can see whether your new comparison page is among them. Agent Analytics shows whether ChatGPTBot or ClaudeBot fetched it, and visitor analytics ties AI-referred visits to signups and other conversions.
The writing does not stop either. Content Agents plan pages from a content gap analysis, write them and publish them to WordPress, Webflow or Framer after you approve them in a review inbox. That replaces ShownInAI's copy-and-paste step.
For a SaaS company, Essential at $95 a month (50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200K visitor events, 5 AEO articles, 7-day trial) is the honest step up. Professional at $245 adds crawler logs (25M) and 150 prompts. You can start on the free Explore plan with 10 ChatGPT prompts.
Verdict
ShownInAI is a cheap, opinionated way to get your first comparison and alternatives pages drafted, and the unbranded prompt set is the right test. As a tracker it is too small and too slow, and its own pages disagree on cadence and API access. Use it for a month of drafts if budget is tight. When you want daily data, crawler logs and pages published for you, move to Promptwatch.
