Birdeye Search AI vs Promptwatch: Location Agents or a Full GEO Loop?

Birdeye's agents fix listings and content per location. Promptwatch writes, publishes, then checks crawler logs and conversions. Which acts further?

Most trackers we review stop at the report. Birdeye Search AI does not, which makes this comparison closer than most. Birdeye presents AI Search as a job for Jay, its agent orchestrator: track visibility, find the cause of a drop, then dispatch other agents to fix it. Promptwatch runs its own loop from content gap to published page. The two agents work on different material, and that decides who should buy which.

Birdeye facts come from birdeye.com/search-ai, its pricing page and two help center articles, read on 14 October 2026. Birdeye has no llms.txt. Promptwatch facts come from promptwatch.com/llms.txt.

Birdeye's case

For a chain, the unit that matters is the location. A dental group with forty offices cares less about a brand-wide average than about ChatGPT giving the wrong opening hours for six of them. Birdeye reports a Visibility Score and share of voice per location, alongside Citations, Ranking, Accuracy and Sentiment reports.

The Accuracy report is where it acts. It traces a wrong hour or address back to the source an engine pulled it from. If Birdeye manages that listing, the correction goes out automatically. If the source is a forum or a third-party directory, the report tells you where to go and you fix it. On top of that, an AI Search Optimization Agent ranks fixes by impact and hands them to Birdeye's Listings, Blog and FAQ agents.

The product page also says Birdeye runs live queries and measures the answers real users get, not just API samples, and that the company is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR and HIPAA compliant. Healthcare groups will care about that last line.

The prompt meter

Birdeye bills by prompt, and one prompt is one query on one engine for one location. The help center formula is locations times scan frequency times engines times prompts. Birdeye's own example (25 locations, 3 engines, 15 prompts, monthly scans) comes to 1,125 prompts a month. Add one engine and usage climbs across every query at every location.

The fine print matters for a growing network. Unused prompts do not roll over unless an annual contract says so, bundles can only be downgraded at renewal, and pay-as-you-go overage costs 1.25x the standard rate. Cadence is described three ways: monthly by default in one help article, daily, weekly or monthly in report settings, and weekly on the product page. Ask which one your contract gets.

Promptwatch's case

Promptwatch's agents work on your website rather than your listings. Content gap analysis picks the prompts where you are missing, Content Agents plan and write the page, a review inbox holds it for approval, and the agent publishes to Webflow or Framer.

The verification step is the part Birdeye's pages leave out. Agent Analytics shows whether ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot fetched the new page, the crawl-to-citation path, and any errors the bots hit. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred visits to conversions. Citation analytics goes down to page, Reddit and YouTube level. Put together, you can tell whether an approved page was read, cited and paid back. Crawler logs start on Professional ($245 a month) or on the agency plans from $199, not on Essential.

Promptwatch handles local work at the prompt level, with country, state and city tracking. It has no listings product, so it cannot correct your hours for you.

Who should pick which

Pick Birdeye if you already manage reviews and listings in Birdeye and your AI visibility problems are mostly location facts: wrong hours, wrong addresses, thin reviews. The fixes land in systems Birdeye already controls, and no website tool can copy that.

Pick Promptwatch if you are a single brand, if your gaps are content gaps, if you want a price before a sales call, or if you need proof a change worked. A multi-location brand can also run both, with Birdeye on listing accuracy and Promptwatch on content and measurement.

Verdict

Birdeye acts, which puts it ahead of plain trackers on our scale. But it acts mainly on listings, stops short of verification, and its metering makes cost hard to predict. Promptwatch covers more engines, publishes content after approval, and closes the loop with crawler logs and conversion data. For most teams it is the one to evaluate first.

FAQ

Does Birdeye Search AI have a public price?

No. The pricing page sorts buyers into location bands, from 1 to 3 locations up to 1,000+, and routes them to sales.

Can Birdeye fix AI answers automatically?

Partly. Wrong location details in listings Birdeye manages are corrected automatically. Unmanaged sources, such as forums, are flagged for you to fix yourself.

Does Promptwatch track local results?

Yes. Prompts can be targeted by country, state or city. It does not manage business listings.
