BrightLocal Local AI Visibility vs Birdeye Search AI (2026): who fixes the listing
BrightLocal's module is included in plans from $41/mo and routes gaps to Citation Builder; Birdeye has no public price but agents that push fixes to managed listings. Compared on work done.
The one-sentence difference: BrightLocal Local AI Visibility is a free add-on that scores each location and sends citation gaps to a paid citation service you approve, while Birdeye Search AI is a metered, sales-led module whose agents push corrections straight into the listings Birdeye already manages. If you judge tools by how much work they take off your plate, Birdeye does more. You pay for that in opacity.

How BrightLocal works
The module sits inside BrightLocal's local SEO platform next to the rank tracker, citation tools and review management. You set a location and up to 20 prompts, which BrightLocal suggests from the business category and tags as branded or unbranded. Every query is anchored to that location and scored from 0 to 100 against the local competitors AI actually recommends. BrightLocal reads above 75 as consistent recommendation and below 50 as mostly absent.
Reports show mention rate, share of voice and average position by platform and prompt, an AI explanation of why each competitor outranks you, and a leaderboard of the directories AI cites for your category. That leaderboard is where the action starts. A missing listing can go straight into Citation Builder, BrightLocal's pay-as-you-go service.
It costs nothing extra on Track, Manage or Grow: $41, $54 and $65 a month for one location on monthly billing, or $31, $40 and $49 a month billed annually. The $31 headline is the annual rate. It isn't on legacy plans, and custom 100+ location plans don't get it automatically. A 14-day trial needs no card.
The limits are hard. Three engines. Twenty prompts per location with no way to buy more. No export or white-label yet, per BrightLocal's own help center, so agencies show results inside BrightLocal.
How Birdeye works
Birdeye's module lives inside its reviews, listings and social platform for multi-location brands. It reports a Visibility Score and share of voice by brand and by location, with Citations, Ranking, Accuracy and Sentiment reports, across up to seven engines you pick per report. Birdeye says it runs live queries and measures the answers real users get.
The Accuracy report is the agentic part. It traces a wrong opening time or address to the source the engine used. If Birdeye manages that listing, it pushes the correction automatically. If the source is a forum or an unmanaged directory, it tells you where to go. An AI Search Optimization Agent ranks fixes by impact and hands them to Listings, Blog and FAQ agents.
Then the meter. One prompt is one query on one engine for one location. Birdeye's own example of 25 locations, 3 engines and 15 prompts on a monthly scan is 1,125 prompts a month. Unused prompts don't roll over by default, bundles can only be downgraded at renewal, and pay-as-you-go overage costs 1.25 times the standard rate. No price is published.
Who should pick which
Pick BrightLocal if you already use it for rankings and citations. It's free on your plan, it scores each location against its real local competitors, and the step to a citation fix is one click. A single location or a small group is the right size.
Pick Birdeye if you run a chain that already manages listings and reviews in Birdeye and you want corrections to happen without a ticket. Model the prompt meter before you sign.
The Promptwatch option
Both modules are good at the map-pack side of AI answers: listings, directories, location facts. Neither shows what happens on your own site. Promptwatch adds that layer. Agent Analytics logs which AI crawlers fetched your location pages, with a crawl-to-citation path and error tracking. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred visits to conversions, so a dental group can count bookings as well as mentions. Content Agents write and publish the location or service pages that fill content gaps, to Webflow, Framer or WordPress, after a review inbox.
For local work, Professional at $245/mo is the entry, because state and city prompt tracking starts there. It includes 2 projects, 150 prompts and 25M crawler logs. Agencies handling many local clients get unlimited projects and prompts, with city tracking, from $199/mo on Kick-off.
Verdict
BrightLocal wins on price and simplicity for existing customers. Birdeye wins on automated listing fixes for networks already inside it. If your local visibility depends on your own pages as much as your listings, start with Promptwatch Professional and keep whichever listings tool you already pay for.
