Citality vs AIShortlist (2026): verified mention counts or concrete page edits?
Both start at $29/mo. Citality has a second model check every mention; AIShortlist measures weekly on three engines and suggests edits matched to your own copy.
Citality spends its effort on making each mention count accurate, while AIShortlist spends it on telling you which sentences on your site to change. Both start at the same low monthly price, and neither publishes anything for you.
Measured on our scale (monitor, recommend, execute), both sit in the middle. Citality recommends at the page level through tools that review crawler access, clarity and structured data. AIShortlist recommends more specifically: text replacements, list page action plans and new page ideas. The work of writing and shipping stays with your team in both cases.

How Citality works
Citality comes from Otron Pty Ltd in Australia. Its pitch is verification. After each result, a second, independent model judges whether your brand was really mentioned (so a common word that matches your name doesn't count), scores its confidence and sends unclear cases to a human review queue. If you report mention counts to clients and have ever had one challenged, you will see the point.
The cost model is checks. One prompt on one model is one check, a Perplexity run is three, and the high-accuracy judge doubles a test. Lite gives 250 checks a month for 25 prompts on two engines per test, which is five runs. Starter is $49 (2 brands, 50 prompts, 500 checks). Growth at $149 brings 250 prompts, 2,500 checks, four engines per test, Claude and Perplexity, scheduled tracking, 3 seats and 12 months of history. Agency at $399 adds 20 brands, 7,000 checks, white-label reports, an API, an MCP server and unlimited history. Annual billing saves about 10%.
The page tools draw on the same allowance, so a deep content review competes with your tracking budget. One contradiction: the homepage lists scheduled tracking as a general feature, but the pricing table gives it to Growth and Agency only. Lite and Starter also keep just 3 months of history with one seat.
How AIShortlist works
AIShortlist is from Vera Danışmanlık in Istanbul, with a Turkish site priced in lira and an English site in US dollars. Each week it asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity your approved buyer questions through their official APIs and reports a visibility score, share of voice, rank and full answers. Question sets can be in Turkish or English, with a country or city each.
The recommend side is its strength. A site crawl (10 to 1,000 pages by plan) checks page speed and AI bot access. Text suggestions are matched word for word against your existing copy, so they do not invent numbers you would then have to fact-check. Starter at $79 adds list page action plans for getting onto "best X" roundups and five new page suggestions a month. Growth at $199 brings 50 questions, five of them tracked daily, and a team of 3. Pro at $499 has API and MCP access. Agency at $999 is white label, by application.
Check two things before you buy. Three engines is the whole list, so no Claude, Copilot or Google AI Overviews. And the English pricing page's title says "then from $79 a month" while the page itself lists Lite lower. Confirm the price at checkout.
Who should pick which
Pick Citality if accurate mention counts matter more than anything else, for instance an agency reporting to skeptical clients. Budget for Growth: Lite and Starter lack Claude, Perplexity and scheduled runs, and 250 checks go fast.
Pick AIShortlist if you want a weekly score plus specific edits your writer can paste in, especially for Turkish questions or city-level sets. As a reporting basis, weekly sampling on three engines is thin.
The Promptwatch option
Both tools leave the same two jobs undone: proving what happens on your site, and doing the writing. Promptwatch covers both.
On measurement, prompts run daily on paid plans, and citation analytics break sources down to page, domain, Reddit thread and YouTube video. Agent Analytics logs which AI crawlers fetched which pages and whether they hit errors. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred visits to conversions.
On execution, content gap analysis finds where rivals are cited and you are not, and Content Agents plan, write and publish the page to WordPress, Webflow or Framer through a review inbox. Unified Actions turns the rest into a to-do list. That moves Promptwatch from recommend to execute on our scale.
Essential at $95 a month has 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200K visitor events and 5 AEO articles. Professional at $245 adds crawler logs (25M), 150 prompts and 15 AEO articles, and is the plan most teams comparing these two should look at.
Verdict
Citality is the more careful counter; AIShortlist is the more useful adviser. Neither sees your crawler logs or publishes. If you want the measurement and the fix in one place, start with Promptwatch.
