WP SEO AI Alternatives (2026): 7 Tools for Teams That Want to Run the Loop Themselves
WP SEO AI is a managed, WordPress-only program with no public price and a 12-month minimum. Seven alternatives you operate yourself, ranked by how much of the monitor, optimize, publish and verify loop they cover.
WP SEO AI sells something most tools on this site don't: a managed search program. The Amsterdam company installs its WordPress plugin, and a dedicated customer success manager directs agents for SEO, GEO and Google Ads. Its own pricing page calls it "a managed, hands-off service, not another dashboard to operate yourself." For the owner of a busy WordPress business site, that sentence is the pitch. For a lot of other buyers it's the reason to keep looking.
Why buyers shop around
Some teams want the controls. If your SEO lead wants to pick the prompts and approve the drafts, a monthly call reporting what the agents did feels like a step backwards.
Others aren't on WordPress. The pricing page says WP SEO AI doesn't work with Shopify, Webflow or custom-built sites. That ends the conversation for most stores and plenty of SaaS marketing sites.
Then there's how you buy. No price is published. You fill in a questionnaire, book a call, and pay a separate start-up investment on top of the package. There's no free trial, because the vendor says SEO results take too long for one to prove anything. Fair for rankings, less so for checking whether you show up in ChatGPT this week.
And the contract runs at least 12 months, paid yearly (quarterly in some cases), with one package per domain.
If that matches how you work, WP SEO AI deserves the call. If not, these seven you run yourself.
How we scored them
A tool earns credit for each step a published plan includes: monitor AI answers, optimize, publish, verify. Competitor prices come from our tool listings, and all seven have a free plan, a trial, or monthly billing.
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the only tool here covering all four steps: WP SEO AI's scope, with you at the wheel. Prompts run daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and more, with search volumes and difficulty scores so you know which prompts deserve a page. Content Agents run a gap analysis, draft articles and publish them to WordPress through an official plugin, or to Webflow or Framer, with a review inbox in between.
Verification is the deciding factor. Agent Analytics names the bots it logs (ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, Meta's crawler) and traces the crawl-to-citation path. Visitor analytics follows AI-referred sessions to conversions through a script or GTM template, so GA4 isn't a requirement. Essential costs $95 a month with a 7-day trial, crawler logs start on Professional at $245, and agencies get unlimited projects on Kick-off at $199 instead of paying per domain.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ fits teams that want direction and will do the work themselves. Its Action Center turns visibility data into assignable tasks such as schema generation or content reformatting, and it lists GA4, Shopify and Webflow revenue attribution. A free tier of about 300 credits works as a trial. Starter is $295 a month ($245 billed annually), single country, with credit-based usage that heavy tracking can drain fast. It doesn't publish, and its listing has no crawler logs.
3. Adaptify
Adaptify is the nearest in spirit, because it writes and publishes for you. The difference is that the software is the service. A missed prompt feeds a seven-stage article pipeline that publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, HubSpot CMS, Squarespace or Duda, then re-tests. Single Site is $499 a month, billed monthly, with a 7-day trial and 1 to 20 PR backlinks. The weak spot is pace: visibility refreshes every 14 days, and no prompt allowance is published.
4. Search Atlas
Search Atlas is an SEO, content and ads suite with the OTTO SEO agent, rank tracking, audits and AI article credits. Watch the gate. The $99 Starter plan has no LLM Visibility at all. Growth at $199 tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Mode, and Perplexity and Copilot wait for Pro at $399. Credits meter every query. There's a 7-day trial.
5. Okara
Okara acts in code. Its Coding Agent writes schema, llms.txt, canonicals and meta tags, then opens a GitHub pull request; nothing merges without approval. AI CMO Lite at $129 a month ($108 annual) adds at least 30 articles a month and 15 tracked AI search prompts. Pro at $249 opens every agent. It connects to WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix and Sanity.
6. Seology
Seology handles the technical layer and leaves content alone. It runs 200+ checks, ships fixes like canonicals, schema and redirect chains as pull requests, and flags judgment calls for a person. Starter is free for one site; Pro is $49 for five sites with daily scans.
7. Outrank
Outrank publishes and doesn't measure. $99 a month buys 30 articles a month on autopilot, a backlink exchange, and integrations from WordPress to Shopify and Next.js. Its listing has no AI prompt tracking or crawler logs.
Picking a replacement
Work out which part of WP SEO AI you actually wanted. A person running Google Ads? Nothing here replaces that; Search Atlas has ads tooling, but nobody reviews each recommendation for you. Technical cleanup points to Seology or Okara, raw article volume to Outrank. For AI visibility, ask whether you need proof as well as a score. Among these seven, only Promptwatch publishes named crawler logs, crawl-to-citation tracing and AI-referred conversions together, which is why we'd start a trial there.
FAQ
Which alternatives still publish to WordPress?
Promptwatch (official plugin), Adaptify, Okara and Outrank all list WordPress publishing. Seology works on WordPress sites too, but it ships technical fixes rather than articles.
Can I try any of these before paying?
Yes. Promptwatch has a free Explore plan and a 7-day trial on Essential. AthenaHQ, Seology and Okara have free tiers, and Adaptify and Search Atlas offer 7-day trials.
Can I keep WP SEO AI and add Promptwatch?
You can. Some teams use Promptwatch to check a managed service's AI visibility results with data the provider doesn't control.
